October 2011
A new litter of piglets arrived on 6th, and we had a visit from the Slow Food Movement on friday 7th, twelve people came for a farm visit and looked at our wonderful animals and tasted some lovely food prepared by Lavina Vaughan.

Attending food festivals this month, come and see us at Welsh Food Festival on 3 and 4th, and Ludlow Food Festival on 9th,10th and 11th.

Piglets are growing up fast, they are very naughty and keep escaping from the fields, I thought Peppa's piglets wanted to get on the childrens trampoline the other day!!! The other 3 sets of piglets keep running across the farmyard under trailers etc having a great deal of fun and then spend the rest of the afternoon sleeping - what a life eh!!!

Our pigs have been very busy this month and we have had four new litters of piglets. On 2nd, Peppa, our Berkshire Sow had 12 lovely piglets, on 6th, Rosy. our Oxford Sandy & Black sow had 12 piglets, on 8th, Jessica our other Oxford Sandy & Black sow had 12 piglets, on 17th Suzy our Gloucester Old Spot sow had 9 piglets.
We also had time to visit the local livestock market in Welshpool for Zak to purchase his first sheep. He bought 3 Suffolk ewes and 4 lambs - his starter flock
Calving finished this month with the arrival of 2 more Dexter calves.

All lambing finished this month, lovely to see them all running, jumping and bouncing around the fields.
We also started calving this month too, we have 3 new Dexter calves at the moment - hopefully more to come - watch this space.........

We have our first set of lambs this morning - one of our Herdwick ewe's has given birth to two lovely little lambs - Megan will be thrilled.
Our Oxford Sandy Black sow is due to farrow - hopefully a wonderful bundle of piglets will be here shortly - Nia only had 4 piglets.

We have moved onto the farm at last, it makes life so much easier now being able to walk to work, and the children think its great all this room to play, we no longer have a garden for them to play - just a field !!!

We attend the following farmers markets each month:-
1st Saturday of month - Presteigne
2nd Saturday of month - Wem
3rd Saturday of month - Bishops Castle
3rd Saturday of month - Shifnal - not every month
4th Friday of the month - Oswestry
4th Saturday of the month - Knigthon
